Is ChatGPT real writing?

By Erica Keswin

Last week I was creating a document for an upcoming project. The person who helped me create the document casually called upon ChatGPT to insert some placeholder text for the copy that I would be ultimately writing.

I thought—NO WAY! Not my work. As a writer, I like my own voice, and I’m going to use it.

But then, reading through the AI generated text, I realized it was kind of a good place to start. It gave me a basic (if somewhat dumbed down) draft to edit. But at the same time, I noticed that simply leaving in what the chatbot produced wouldn’t have sounded like me—at all!

In other words…

We still need the human touch in this age of AI.

Or as I like to say, we need to find the sweet spot between tech and connect.

Speaking of which, one of the most important modules in my upcoming cohort, Managers on a Mission: How to Become a Great Human Leader, is called Find the Sweet Spot Between Tech and Connect.

This is where we’ll dive into how you can leverage all that’s great about technology (like ChatGPT). But you’ll also learn how and why you need to put it “in its place.”

If you’re a manager (and managers do a lot of writing!) looking for practical, actionable tools and tips to lead better, consider joining us soon as we have just TWO SPOTS LEFT!

We start October 1st, and over nine-weeks you’ll learn how to become a great human leader. The best part? We’ll use tech—WhatsApp—to form a very human community of fellow managers.

Are you in?

I can’t wait to work together.
