Watching sports is good for your health

By Erica Keswin

Did you know that watching sports has “a positive psychological and neurophysiological impact on human well-being”? That’s according to research published this year.

And boy, did watching the Olympics feel amazing!

I could practically feel the oxytocin spike in the crowds as we watched gymnastics, soccer, volleyball, basketball…even judo!

Now that the Olympics have wrapped, and I’m reflecting on my experience, I can honestly say that there’s nothing quite like the connection we all feel when we’re connecting to something bigger than ourselves.

It’s awe-inspiring, actually.

I know that it might feel like a stretch to try to apply something as over-the-top as the Olympics to what you’re doing at work every day, but the way I see it, it’s all about connection—the most basic part of being human.

One issue I’ve heard about from leaders in the last few years is that they’re struggling to connect to their people. And that’s a big deal because:

Which is why I’m offering a community learning experience called Managers on a Mission: How to Become a Great Human Leader.
