human skills are in demand

By Erica Keswin

According to a new report from Deloitte, “nearly 95% of US professionals say they’re concerned that future generations won’t have the human skills they need for the workforce.”

You wouldn’t have guessed this from reading the news lately—which is a total AI frenzy—but I know it’s true because I’ve been hearing about it from the people in my Great Human Leader cohort this fall.

Now, developing human skills is not about dismissing AI (or whatever the next new technology is), but it is about recommitting to the human side of our work.

What does that mean?

As the Deloitte survey goes on to say, “A greater share of workers said they want their company to prioritize skills like collaboration and communication over technical skills like AI integration.”

More specifically, these are the things a great human leader needs to do:Be intentionalCurate connectionCommunicate effectively in a hybrid worldGive recognition and thanks Lead with vulnerability and empathyThis isn’t rocket science, but it sure isn’t easy!

As I always say, the human stuff is the hardest stuff. And the most important stuff—especially these days.

While this fall cohort ends today, the good news is, I’m going to be offering it again in 2025! Please fill out an interest form to get on the waitlist.
