5 ways to embrace your humanity in the age of AI

By Erica Keswin

AI was the talk of the town at the Transform HR Conference in Vegas a couple weeks ago.

My big takeaway? Guys, it’s here to stay.

But so is our humanity—as long as we’re intentional.

So if you’re interested in staying ahead of the AI curve (and if you don’t, you’ll definitely be left behind), here are my top 5 ways to embrace your humanity in the age of AI:

  1. Prioritize it: Make AI integration a priority—or else.

  2. Claim it: Women are 25% less likely than men to leverage digital technology, so AI has the potential to widen the gender gap. Ladies, claim your AI skills!

  3. Share it: Remember how much employees today want to grow on the job, up, down and sideways? Well, AI can democratize learning and growth for the individual.

  4. Own it: HR professionals need to lead by example. Be the first one on your team and in your organization learning about and using AI so that you can FINALLY focus on the more strategic parts of the job.

  5. Keep an eye on it: Leaders need to realize that employees will be using AI, so lean in, establish safe zones and rules of the road, and keep your eyes open for bias.

I know, this AI business can feel overwhelming. But leveraging everything that’s great about tech but also putting it in its place is nothing new. Just think about the wild west of Zoom calls at the beginning of Covid and how far we’ve come.

You can do it!

But like with every part of your human leadership, you do have to be intentional.
